Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo
23 December 2020

Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo shared the gospel of Advent in a divine service conducted on the 29th November, 2020, at Anyinam Congregation in the Bosuso district of the Koforidua Apostle area. He was accompanied by Apostle Asampong.

The Leader read a text word for the service from Jeremiah 23:5, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgement and justice in the earth”

The Advent
The Lead Apostle spoke about what Advent is and its importance to believers in the New Apostolic Church. He said: “Advent was made to remind us of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Advent reminds, prepares and grants us understanding about why Jesus Christ came to this earth.” He continued: “Many believe that Christ was given to us for only prosperity and miracles. In view of this, many believers look for scriptural verses that support their belief and mislead people about the real meaning of Jesus Christ’s coming. The Advent inspires us to prepare for the second coming of Christ.”

Importance of Jesus Christ’s coming
Speaking on the importance of the coming of Christ, Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo said: “Christ will come and select the elect. Before He left the earth, He promised His Apostles and said, ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled, trust in God and trust also in Me. In My Father’s House are many rooms, if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.’

The Apostle explained that Jesus Christ came to build the Church and prepare us for salvation. This was why He came to die for us, so that we may be forgiven and have salvation. This is what Advent reminds and prepares us for.

Again, Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo made the congregation understand that Jesus left the Church in the hands of the Apostles and gave them power to forgive sins; whatever they bind on earth will be bound by the Father in heaven. He continued: “In everything you do, let Jesus Christ be your focus. He built the church not with His hands but with the Holy Spirit, so worship Him in spirit and in truth. We are to listen to Jesus Christ only, He makes us understand that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one goes to the Father except through Him.

Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo ended his sermon with an advice saying: “When the disciples went out to preach, they came back happy because all the spirits were subjected to them, but Jesus told them to be happy because their names are written in the book of life. Let this be our goal, that our names will be written in the Book of Life.”
