On the readily awaited special Sunday of October 1, 2023, members of the Osu Congregation still braved the rainy weather and power blackout to gather at the church premises to render their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to God. This day was Thanksgiving.
Leading this divine service, Community Evangelist Mingle gave praise and thanks to God, the Creator, for His wonderful creation and the many things He has done for us.
The text word was taken from Genesis 2:3, "Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made."
He said: “As we read from today's text word, On the seventh day, God rested from all His work which He had made and sanctified it because His creation was pleasing, and not that He was tired”.
He further elaborated that not everyone acknowledges God as the giver of life. And each person should be thankful to whosoever assists him/her in this life. Out of love, God the Creator created the whole world and everything in it including mankind. Again, God sent unto us His Only Begotten Son, who died for our sins to set us free. He further established His Church and the Apostles’ ministry based on the teachings of Christ Jesus so we do not become orphans in this world.
Community Evangelist Mingle continued;
- No one should put his/her belief or faith in other fellow beings as we all God’s creation.
- Also, everyone must believe in the Word of God as it existed before us and is the source for eternal life.
- God has entrusted us with all created things and we in return must take good care of them and not destroy it.
- In either good or bad situations, we should give thanks to God for His good thoughts towards us as His ways and thoughts cannot be likened to man.
- We should also extend this gratitude unto our neighbour and expect nothing in return.
Community Evangelist Mingle closed the service by reminding the congregation to continuously give praise and thanks to God, the Creator and emphasized the importance of expressing our gratitude through offerings and voluntary gifts, active attendance to divine services, and using our unique talents in the service of God.
Community Evangelist Boakye, Priests Lartey and Adjei assisted the service.
Following the divine service, the congregation enjoyed fellowship and musical contributions by the choir. The Sunday School also sang hymns of praise to gladden the hearts of the members.
