The Apostle, ministers and confirm
29 April 2024

On the 7th of April 2024, Apostle Samuel Ayidana (Bolgatanga Apostle area) blessed 12 confirmands in a special Confirmation Service at the Bolgatanga Central Church.

The text word for the service was taken from 1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”

Beginning the sermon, the Apostle advised the confirmands about the responsibility they are taking upon themselves on that special day. “Today, the vows your parents took on your behalf at the Holy Baptism and Holy Sealing, at your infancy, shall now be your cross to carry.”

In his sermon, he emphasized important areas that a Christian should know:

  • Love of God: The love of God must be the foremost item in our daily issues. He urged the new confirmands to always seek and desire to do the will and love of our Heavenly Father. Our attitude in Christ should not be only when we are in church but in our everyday life.
  • Peace ambassadors: One must make it a habit to demonstrate the will of God always and practice peace. “It is peace and unity that makes us stand firm. The word of God can be much active in peaceful society.”
  • Patience: The strongest weapon in the house of God is patience. Sometimes God will not answer our request as we wish in time. However, He always responds, for those that remain focused and patient.
  • Faith: Prayer is the key for us as children of God. We cannot be independent if we do not have faith in God. He encouraged the confirmands to draw themselves close to God. “We can be lost in our ways when we are not in tune with the Word.”
  • Humility: The Apostle urged the new confirmands to show humility in every aspect of their lives for God blessings.

Apostle concluded by motivating the new confirmands to use their God giving talents to praise God by becoming active in Church. He discouraged them from becoming wayward and advised them to extend their humility to their colleagues. “Continue listening to the instructions and advice of your parents for they are ahead of you in life.” He also urged parents to be watchful and protective of their children.

After their blessing, the Chief Apostles’ letter was read to the confirmands and hymn books given to them.

The Apostle was assisted by the District Rectors Suguruman Yaw Laar, Deputy District Rectors Henry Anamlebgya and Priest Frank Amenyogbe.
