Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo
22 May 2024

Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo celebrated Ascension Day with the Osu congregation. He was accompanied by Apostle Charles Addo-Asare.

The Ghana Church leader led the divine service based on Luke 24: 50-51, "And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven."

As done on such special days, there was as special bible read by Sister Rebecca Marteki Markwei based from Luke 24:44 - 53.

Ascension Day
“Today is Ascension day, a day we remember the uplifting of our Lord Jesus back to the Father”, began the Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo. “The work of our Lord Jesus can be played into two; the earthly and the heavenly parts. He is still working to bring the earthly part to an end”, he said.

He explained that the death of Jesus signifies the sacrifice we have to do to obtain forgiveness of sins in the New Testament, and the new covenant that has been established.

He further said that Jesus Christ resurrected from death:

  • To establish an example and path for us to go back to the Father
  • “that death would not be the end of man, and to overcome the curse that had been placed on man that "man shall surely die".
  • To show that man can also resurrect.

His death, resurrection and ascension
Jesus death, resurrection and ascension marked the end of His work on earth, the Ghana Leader explained. He did this to pave the way for us to go through the same process.

Furthermore, Jesus Christ improved the understanding of the Apostles that the Old Testament and the Prophets testified of Him.

Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo concluded that the New Testament was about the repentance and remission of sins.
Therefore, the core duty is to preach the Gospel in its pure and true form to every corner of the earth, for all to repent and receive remission of sins.

The Lead Apostle was supported by Apostle Asare, Deputy District Rector DeHeer, Priests Maxwell and Joe Lartey, Rectors from Teshie 1 and 2 respectively.
