Following the Chief Apostle and District Apostles’ meeting in Ghana two months ago, the South Germany District Church leader, District Apostle Michael Ehrich, returned for another visit in the month of January. He was accompanied by Lead Apostles Ohene-Saffo (Ghana) and Yedenou (Benin and Togo), as well as all Apostles and Bishops from Ghana and Togo.
On Sunday, 26th January, 2025, the District Apostle led a festive divine service with over a thousand congregants at the Accra Central Church in attendance. The text word used for the festive divine service was taken from Psalm 139: 23-24; “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Sunday – Our Holy Day
For us as Christians, Sunday is our Holy Day, in observance of God’s commandment, explained the District Apostle. It is so because Jesus resurrected on a Sunday. To fulfill God’s commandment of keeping it holy, we gather in God's House, attend divine services, and open our hearts to receive His Word and grace. To fully achieve this, we must let go of all personal issues or struggles and come together in unity. “We are all brothers and sisters with the same Father, and we must love one another as we pray for forgiveness in the Lord's Prayer. Therefore, acknowledging our sins and accepting God's grace allows us to receive His full blessings.
Proving our faith and trust in God
Reflecting on the day's text, the District Apostle explained that:
- Everyone goes through one test or the other, including ministers. These tests could be difficult situations or blissful moments. Both give us an opportunity to show our attitude towards our relationship with God. In both situations, especially in difficult ones, where we may ask questions, God desires our gratitude and praise, as this truly elevates us.
- While we may be worried about happenings in our lives, trusting in God will lead us to victory. Our task is to prove ourselves worthy of His love and show ourselves to Him.
- God reminds us of His dual commandments; to love God, and to love our neighbours as ourselves. These commandments unite all others through Jesus Christ.
Following God’s lead
Concluding the sermon, the District Apostle admonished everyone;
- To examine their hearts to ensure they align with God’s teachings. Jesus was extraordinary not just because He was God, but for His compassion toward the sick, hungry, and outcasts. As His followers, we are called to imitate His example to avoid straying from the right path.
- To forgive. Forgiveness may be difficult, but we are taught to forgive as Christ forgave us, leading us to righteousness.
- To walking the right path, meaning walking with God, which is only possible with His help. Those who follow the gospel of Jesus Christ will be blessed and led to eternal life through deep faith.
“All children of God receive the gift of Holy Spirit, which brings peace to individuals, congregations, and communities. Jesus Christ is always with us and will guide us until the end.” The District Apostle Michael Ehrich was assisted by Apostle Opoku Mensah (Nkawkaw Apostle Area) and Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo.
Retirement and Ordination
As part of the service, the District Church leader placed 14 District Rectors into retirement. Thereafter, he appointed 11 District Rectors and assigned 13 District Rector Delegates.
