On February 1, 2025, members of the Accra East District gathered at the New Apostolic Church, East-Legon Premises, to bid farewell to Sister Lily Amoafi Asare, a chorister and wife of Shepherd Samuel Kwame Okyere (Retired). The service was led by Apostle Charles Asare, who was joined by various districts and congregation rectors.
The text for the funeral service, emphasizing God's everlasting love, was taken from Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore, with lovingkindness I have drawn you.’”
Apostle Charles Asare addressed the congregation, acknowledging the sorrow of death but assuring them of God's comfort and strength. He reminded everyone that life on earth is temporary, and emphasized that the soul endures beyond death.
The Apostle drew hope from John 6:54, reminding the congregation of the promise of eternal life through Christ. He also stated that death is a transition to a greater life with Christ, and encouraged everyone to commit their lives to Christ fully.
The Accra Working Area leader also encouraged the widower, Shepherd Okyere (rtd), by emphasizing Sister Lily's dedication to God and her service to the church. “Her life of service was a testimony of steadfast devotion, and her legacy encouraged all present to follow her example.”
The funeral service was attended by over 600 congregants, including retired ministers as well as a chief, Nana Nteboa Pra IV, the Divisional Chief of Himan Prestea.
