The Bolga congregation
9 May 2025

On Sunday, 20th April 2025, Apostle Samuel Ayidana, the Bolgatanga Area Apostle, led a divine service at the Bolgatanga Central Congregation of the New Apostolic Church. Congregations from across the Bolgatanga District gathered to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was a moment filled with joy and reflection on the hope and eternal life brought by Christ's resurrection.

The text for the service was taken from Mark 16:9–10: “Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.”

A celebratory call to all
Narrating the story of Christ’s resurrection, Apostle Ayidana emphasized that while the resurrection may appear to be a time of pure celebration, it is also a call to live with purpose and sacrifice. He encouraged Christians to love and serve others without conditions, just as Christ did. “It is our duty today as Christians to do as much good as possible for mankind, without expecting anything in return.” The Apostle pointed out the contrast between the joyful perception of the resurrection and the profound mission behind it. He urged believers not to seek alternative, easier paths but instead to take up the cross of Christ as a path toward salvation.“We must walk in love, move forward with faith and obedience, and fully commit to the promise that awaits us.”

An ever presence in all situations
Continuing his sermon, Apostle Ayidana encouraged the congregation to approach life’s challenges with confidence and unwavering faith, knowing that God is always present. He acknowledged that many of us focus only on our daily struggles, often forgetting the path Christ walked for our sake. “We act as if our problems have no solution, yet Christ is always there for us. Why do we worry when things don’t go as expected? Christ’s own life shows us that challenges often mark the beginning of something greater.”

The power of love
The Apostle emphasized that it is out of love that Christ became our Saviour, and so we, too, must learn to love — deeply, unconditionally, and faithfully. He reminded the congregation of the importance of love, obedience, trust, and devotion to God, especially in difficult times. Reflecting on Christ’s resurrection, he left the faithful with a powerful message: “No matter how dark the situation may seem, there is always hope — there is joy after sorrow, life after death.” The Apostle was supported during the service by Communty Evangelist Elijah  Appianing  and Priest George Akubia, both from the Tamale Congregation.
