On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the Deputy Rector Delegate (DRD), Karel De‑Heer of the Accra East District, officiated a divine service at the New Apostolic Church, Osu. The service brought together members from both the Osu and Aburi Dumpong congregations.
The text word for the service was taken from Revelation 22:16b: “I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

Christ’s Sovereignty and the Promise of His Return
In introducing the sermon, the Deputy Rector Delegate reflected on God’s sovereignty over humanity and Christ’s promise to return to gather His bridal souls. He reminded the congregation that Christ will reward each person according to their works. To illustrate the centrality of Christ, the Deputy Rector Delegate compared faith to a well‑built house with a firm foundation. Jesus Christ, he emphasized, is the foundation of God’s work. He explained why Christ is described as the Root and Offspring of David: David found favour with God, and through the prophet Samuel, God made a lasting promise concerning his lineage—a promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Christ’s Life and Mission
Continuing the sermon, the Deputy Rector Delegate outlined key events surrounding Christ’s life:

  • Old Testament prophecies foretelling His coming
  • The announcement of His birth to Mary
  • His earthly ministry, miracles, crucifixion, and death

He noted that although angels may not appear visibly today as they did in biblical times, the Holy Spirit continues to inspire and speak through people. Whether these words bear fruit depends on one’s faith. He further highlighted:

  • The visit of the wise men, Jesus’ circumcision, His miracles, and His interactions with sinners such as Zacchaeus
  • The disappointment of the Israelites, who expected a political ruler, while Jesus came to bring spiritual salvation

Christ, the Morning Star
In concluding the sermon, Deputy Rector Delegate De‑Heer affirmed that Jesus Christ—the eternal light and promised Morning Star—lived among humanity to reveal God’s mercy and grace. Since Christ’s words never fail, His return is certain. Believers, he urged, must remain faithful, reflect God’s character, and accept His Word without doubt as they prepare for Christ’s imminent return. The service was assisted by Shepherd Kwapong and Priests Paul and Adjei.

After the service, Brother William, a former organist of the Osu Congregation during his schooling in Accra, was honoured with a token of appreciation from the welfare and choir group in recognition of his dedicated service. He was joined by his family for the presentation.
