Joyful children
24 January 2026

The year 2026 opened on a joyful and reflective note for the children of the Ve Koloenu Congregation in the Likpe District of the Volta North Apostle Area. On New Year’s Day, about 30 children, including invited guests, gathered for an inspiring afternoon of fellowship.

The programme featured a rich blend of activities—spirit-filled singing, choreography, Bible recitations, and an engaging discussion on the motto for the year: “Do not be afraid, just believe.”
Deacon Christian Egbadzor, who delivered the welcome address, highlighted the importance of such gatherings in strengthening unity among the children. He encouraged everyone to participate wholeheartedly so they could experience both spiritual and physical joy.

The special guest for the occasion, Shepherd Solomon Gottah (Deputy District Rector for Hohoe District), led the children through an interactive question-and-answer session on the year’s theme. The Sunday School children demonstrated remarkable insight as they explored the causes of fear, the things humans commonly fear, and where believers should place their trust.
According to the Sunday School children:

Causes of Fear include:

  • The feeling of guilt
  • Unfulfilled desires
  • Self-pity
  • The presence of a superior person
  • Past experiences

What Humans Commonly Fear are:

  • Failure
  • Punishment
  • Death
  • Poverty
  • The evil one

We should only believe and trust in:

  • God
  • Jesus Christ
  • The Apostolate and the Church of Christ
  • The Word of God

In his concluding remarks, the Shepherd Gottah encouraged all present to enter the new year with the right kind of fear—reverence for the Holy Trinity, grounded in love and trust. He urged the children to remain steadfast in their faith, reminding them that the Lord never forsakes His own.
